Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is thrilled to present this Race Yellow rocket ship, also known as a 2014 Dodge Viper GTS with the legendary “Prefix 9.0L Extreme Engine” package! This GTS came new from SRT as a 2014 GTS with the optional GTS Laguna Interior (21A) package, Race Yellow paint with optional black GTS stripes (1 of only 31 manufactured in the Race Yellow/Black Stripe combo) and the 18″/19″ Venom Hyper wheels, and like starting off with the 2014 Viper GTS’s 8.4L V10 beast isn’t already more than most drivers can handle, just imagine taking it to Prefix for them to work their magic on it & making it even more special! What Prefix has created is a Viper 9.0L Extreme Engine package which, as the name implies, involves a stroker kit that sees the Viper’s V10 jump from 8.4L to 9.0L (550CID) and a powerful 825hp/750 lb. ft. The Prefix Extreme package also includes an aluminum block with pressed in cast iron liners, a Callies “Stroker” billet crank, Custom Comp Extreme non-VVT camshaft with PAC double springs and some CNC cylinder heads with 2.125″ intake valves and 1.608″ exhaust valves. Other upgrades under the hood include Mahle forged pistons, Steel Moly-filled piston rings and H-beam forged connecting rods, but you get the idea! To handle the increased power, the guys over at Tick Performance did a complete Stage 2 rework of the TR-6060 transmission in Oct. 2021, adding all new gears (including reverse), a new Viper input shaft & bearing and new synchronizers because all this power is useless of you can’t get it down to the pavement! (All engine installation work was documented & completed by the masters over at The Viper Exchange/BJ Motorsports in Tomball, TX in Jan. 2019 & the Stage 2 trans. install was completed Oct. 2021). The addition of the carbon fiber TA2 aero splitter & the liftgate spoiler, as well as a full body PPF, brings the total of upgrades to the GTS to well over $60k! Also recently done was an new clutch in Feb. 2023, as well as new rear rubber, oil & diff. fluids have all recently been changed. The Viper is ready for the street or track day just as it sits!
When it comes to pure, raw, high horse powered American supercars, there is absolutely nothing like a Gen-IV Viper! But when you add in all the comfort features that came standard on the GTS coupled with the powertrain work that has been done on this example by Prefix & Tick Performance, then installed by the guys at the legendary Viper Exchange, what you get is this absolutely scary piece of automotive art!
