Gateway Classic Cars of Fort Lauderdale is proud to present this 1988 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe Mach 1.
While the Mach 1 name is synonymous with the Mustang, Ford used it for a potent variant of the Thunderbird back in the 80’s. It is believed that just about 500 of these Thunderbirds were ever built, exclusively sold by specialized Ford dealers. They are incredibly hard to come by, and this ’88 may just be the lowest milage example still standing. With it’s pronounced hood scoops, black wing mirrors, and a prominent rear lip spoiler, this Thunderbird is arguably a shaper alliteration of the Foxbody Mustang. The practically untouched interior features power-adjustable bucket seats, rear bench seating, 3-point seat belts, gray cloth upholstery, an AM/FM/Cassette radio, and a two-spoke steering wheel.
Power comes courtesy of a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with electronic fuel injection. Mated to a Borg Warner T5 five-speed manual transmission.
