Gateway classic cars of Nashville is pleased to digitally present to you this 1966 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442. Now the debate still rages about the moniker 442. Some will tell you with conviction that 442 stands for 400 cubic inches, 4 speed, dual exhaust. Others insist that is stands for 400 cubic inches, 4 Barrel, two door. When I hear 442 all I think about is burning rubber and the dotted white line that appears to be a solid line once you exceed 120MPH. Not that I would ever fracture a speed limit law! This 1966 442 is a very pretty maroon but it is best described as rusty red and has a black interior that appears factory fresh. Under the hood of this Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 is the diamond in the middle of the engagement ring, a 455 cubic inch Big block that has the factory 3 duce set up. Three Rochester 2-barrel carburetors to feed the beast. A set of Kooks long tube headers help the engine exhale. While the cam has enough thump,, thump to belie the fact that this engine gets to the power band quickly. The transmission of choice was a TKX 5 speed manual transmission and a freshly purchased 12 bolt Chevrolet rear end that houses 4.11:1 Yukon gears and Strange engineering axles. This 442 was built to drive, not just look at, although it is pleasant to view this car from any angle. Options for this 1966 Oldsmobile include: AM radio, or, just listen to the engine, Seat belts, they are a good idea, Posi traction, who wants to leave just one black mark?, Ally rims and radial tires.
