Gateway Classic Cars Houston is excited to present this very cool 1965 Plymouth Barracuda for sale. The Burnt Habanero Orange paint is nicely offset by a matte black hood. The powertrain consists of a 318 CID “Poly Head” V8, which has been bored and stroked to a big-block-like 396 CID displacement. Backing that potent 396 is a Mopar A-833 four-speed manual transmission with a Hurst shifter. Extra bonuses come in the form of the 4-wheel disc brake upgrade, dual 4BBL Edelbrock carbs, Flaming River tilt steering column, dual electric exhaust cutouts, and a Ford 9-inch third member with an Eaton Detroit Truetrac limited slip differential and 3.00:1 gears. The engine was treated to a block cleaning and deburring, sonic testing, deck surfacing, and was bored .060 over. Its reciprocating heart is a K1 Technologies forged 4340 steel 4-inch stroker crankshaft with Vandervell bearings, Molnar forged H-beam rods, forged Ross 9:1 flat top pistons with TRW rings, Bullet Racing Cams cam, Melling oil pump, FelPro gaskets, CompCams valvetrain, custom pushrods, and a Mopar dual quad intake. The oil cooler was relocated to accommodate the use of an oil cooler (with fan). Cooling is provided by an oversize aluminum radiator, high performance water pump, and 180-degree thermostat, and has an electric fan that’s set to 200 degrees. Ignition is handled by MSD, with StreetFire Ignition and Blaster 2 coil feeding its MSD plug wires. The A-833 transmission was rebuilt by Passion Performance of Sugarloaf, PA; and power is sent to the back via a Centerforce clutch with high performance pressure plate and gets to the diff courtesy of a custom balanced driveshaft. The rear suspension has auxiliary air bags to allow for adjustment of rear axle/height control, so you can give it that muscle car rake if you like. The rear suspension is a fully adjustable 4-link set up with heavy duty gas shocks. Subframe connectors have been welded in to boost chassis stiffness. This ‘Cuda also features a new fuel tank with float and sensor. This beast rides on a set of BFG Radial T/A tires, which wrap the custom Vision Shift 148 aluminum wheels. Inside, occupants are treated to black synthetic leather seating and carpet that are practically unused, seatbelts for safety, and reduced noise thanks to the sound deadener installed throughout. During its restoration, the ‘Cuda also received new window felts and gaskets, windshield and gasket, weatherstripping/gaskets for doors and trunk, new floor pans and trunk pan, door and rear trim panels, new pre-formed seat foam, new seat upholstery, new headliner, sun visors, armrests, rearview mirror, new wiring harness, and new Bosch gauges and tach. This car is ready to be driven anywhere without compromise, and comes with plenty of documentation and restoration information and photos. If you’re looking for a vintage first generation ‘Cuda, this should be at the top of your list.
