Triumph TR3 1961

Gateway Classic Cars of Scottsdale is excited to digitally present this 1961 Triumph TR3, just in from the owners who have had it and enjoyed it for 30 years. Owners have indicated it was restored during their ownership, finished in classic White, manual black convertible top, and a contrasting Blue leather bucket seat interior. Sitting on 15″ real knock off wheels with 165/80R15 all season radials to insure the sports car handling. A chrome luggage rack makes room for a 2person weekend run to your favorite outing!
Outside of the MGA the Triumph TR3 is the “other ” British roadster from the 50’s and 60’s. Simple and Reliable, the TR3 could reach 110 mph and sold very well to customers who-fortunately- only had performance in mind.
The Triumph TR3 has 4 cylinder inline rated from the factory at 106 HP, a 4 speed transmission with optional overdrive (this one does have that option) Per the owner the engine and transmission have been rebuilt during their ownership. The rugged “side screen” TR, so named for its employment of removeable Plexiglas side curtains, was a sales and motorsport success! Campaigned in races, hill climbs, and rallies across Europe and North America, with several outright, team, and class victories to its credit.
The TR3 is a rock solid, reliable, durable and will serve their owners for many miles and years. The TR3 is a true roadster designed for sunny weather but with removeable rain protection. The convertible top snaps on and off, allowing for very low doors with padding for the driver’s arm to rest on!
